HTC ONE M9 First Impressions
So with the launch of the m9 just hours ago it is looking like the rumors where right. Many leeks that we dismissed where real and the phone does resemble last year’s htc one m8. Though it does feature allot of the design from the m8 we do get a few small bumps in specs and features. This time they have done away with ultra pixel and duo cameras and just slapped a 20mp camera on the back, which should push the phone to be more competitive with other devices. Inside we get a small bump as well with the snapdragon 810 and 3gb of ram and a 1080p display. The display is the same as what we had last year so expect it to be good although there are reports that the screen looks a little cooler this time around. Also the design gets a small bump in the color department. We get two-tone colors, for example you can have a silver model with a gold band. This looks nice and is how I wish other companies would implement gold, as it is not over the top like we have seen on the apple devices. And in terms of the metal it is less slippery this year and resembles more of the htc one m7s metal rather than the m8. But the real changes in this phone are is the software department. We have a new version of sense based on android lollipop and I do have to say it looks pretty nice and quite customizable. Starting with the on screen nav bar you can add more to it now, making it easier to use the phone one handed as you will not have to reach for menu buttons or the likes. Also the phone features a theme maker. Now I am not to sure at this point how much the theme maker does but it looks cool and ads a new look to android.
Overall this phone looks like a nice little bump to the one line up. It does not bring anything ground-breaking to the table but it improves on what htc has already done with the m7 and m8 and it does look like phone makers are at the point of perfecting their designs rather than trying to change them up. I am very interested to spend time with this phone so expect a review to come.
